What we do
Those black streaks on your roof are gloeocapsa magma — a hardy algae that feeds on the limestone in modern shingles. Pressure can't safely remove it; the only correct method is a soft-wash.
We apply a low-pressure soft-wash solution that kills the algae, moss and lichen at the root. The solution dwells, then we rinse with gentle pressure. Results continue to improve for several days as the treatment finishes its work and rain washes the dead growth away.
This is the method recommended by ARMA (the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association). High-pressure cleaning voids most shingle warranties and strips the protective granules — we never use it on shingled roofs.
